I am a PhD student in Communication with focus on the intersection between environmental, science, and health communication at University of Cincinnati. I obtained my Bachelor and Masters in Natural Resources and Aquatic Resources Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. I have also been an instructor for aquatic ecology courses at the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences, University for Development Studies, Ghana. I am passionate about environmental health, pollution, climate impacts, and sustainable development. I am also passionate about engaging community in science topics and supporting communities in co-creating solutions to their environmental challenges.

The PEWS Sustainability Fellow supports the PEWS Sustainability Initiative, sponsored by Research2030, and plays a large role in helping to plan and implement activities for Sustainability@UC Week. Projects also include planning interdisciplinary sustainability events, assisting with grant submissions, creating a sustainability-based graduate community, and meeting with UC administrators to discuss sustainability and interdisciplinary opportunities for students.

A.J. Kmetz – Science Harvest Intern

I’m a Master’s student in Geosciences studying stable isotope ecology. This is a process where we look at tiny differences in the atoms in fur, feathers, leaves, or other parts of a plant or animal to learn more about where and how that organism lived. I care deeply about making science accessible and exciting, and I hope to build a career in informal science education. Outside of research, I’m a writer, video gamer, cat parent, and Dungeons & Dragons player (go check out the D&D event I helped create at the Cincinnati Museum Center with PEWS!).
