Science Harvest is a local science outreach initiative of PEWS. This program strives to share science with local communities through two-way conversations about science and hands-on science activities. Scientists bring bring hands-on activities and demonstrations to share with people of all ages to the Northside Farmer’s Market in Cincinnati monthly.
This program runs every month on the third Wednesday of the month. The Northside Farmer’s Market runs on Wednesdays from 4 to 7pm, outdoors behind Life In Balance (formerly North Church) at 4222 Hamilton Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45223.
This program originated in the Department of Geosciences at University of Cincinnati in Dr. Aaron Diefendorf’s Organic Geochemistry Lab where graduate students including PEWS Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Meg Corcoran, designed and implemented activities to share science with people of all ages who visit the market. Past activities have featured research on lake sediments, glaciers, and clams.
Get Involved
We are actively looking for more individuals or groups at UC to become involved with Science Harvest. There are opportunities for students and research groups to participate in a preplanned activity or to design your own. We welcome new ideas of activities and demonstrations at the market!
Please fill out this form if you are interested in learning more or participating in Science Harvest.
