This week will feature events geared towards students, educators and the public. These events are supported by Research 2030 Initiative of the UC Office of Research and UC Office of Provost.
Dr. Mitchell Thomashow, former President of Unity College, is a leader in sustainability initiatives and environmental learning. He works to promote ecological awareness, environmental learning, and improvisational thinking through writing, advising and teaching.

Researchers (including faculty, staff, and students) interested in learning about sustainable practices in laboratory environments are invited to this one-hour webinar for an introduction to sustainability in labs, suggestions for changes that could be implemented in your own lab, and to learn about opportunities to get more involved. Researchers can individually attend the event remotely, or they can join a virtual hosting of the event on UC’s campus. This webinar will be hosted in partnership with My Green Lab, an independent organization focused on building a sustainable culture in labs by providing programs and resources about lab sustainability.

PEWS invites interested UC Faculty for a “Lunch n’ Learn” with Dr. Mitchell Thomashow. At this event, we will discuss culture and leadership of sustainability within a higher education context, provide direction for sustainability solutions, and help craft unique instructional methods to best facilitate effective sustainability education, with a focus on urban settings. This event is co-sponsored with the UC’s School of Environment and Sustainability (SEaS).

Sustainability focused student organization groups are invited to join Dr. Mitchell Thomashow for a conversation about sustainability learning at UC. This workshop will help prepare student leaders with the necessary skills to lead sustainability initiatives and conversations.

Dr. Mitchell Thomashow will give a keynote lecture, ““The Future of Environmental Learning,” for members of the UC community. This talk will address the skills, interpretive frameworks, and insights to implement and improve sustainability-related education and action in Cincinnati.

Students are invited to join Dr. Mitchell Thomashow and PEWS Faculty Affiliate, Dr. Amy Townsend-Small, during her Intro to Environmental Studies class for a discussion and Q&A with Dr. Thomashow. This is open to all students interested in meeting Dr. Thomashow and learning more about his sustainability work.
