University of Cincinnati is excited to participate as a planning partner for this upcoming event, hosted by PEWS community partner, Green Umbrella. Green Umbrella is currently seeking poster submission for this sustainability summit and highly encourage submissions from students, faculty, community and non-profit leaders, and others involved in sustainability work. Total Solar Eclipse: Get ready for the Greatest show in the Universe with Dean Regas

Dean Regas is a renowned public speaker, author, educator, national popularizer of astronomy, and an expert in observational astronomy. Conversations à la Carte

Join Cincinnati Nature Center for an online program, Conversations à la Carte. This is a series of three one-hour coaching sessions with information on how you might form a “table group” (think of it as a book club without books). This is designed for adults who are looking to share experiences, knowledge, questions and perspectives over conversations in small groups. Preregistration required. Compost 101

You’ve heard that you should compost, now it’s time to learn how! This beginner-friendly workshop hosted by Civic Garden Center will cover the basics of outdoor composting, vermicompost and bokashi. Participants will also learn what a healthy compost pile requires to be productive and ways to troubleshoot common issues. Weather permitting, you will walk around the CGC’s compost area and discuss the pros and cons of several types of compost systems. Learn more and register here.

Sustainable Urban Landscapes Symposium

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Sustainable Urban Landscapes symposium is a full day of talks on anything having to do with urban landscapes and gardens. This long-standing and very highly rated symposium features the very best horticultural and sustainability experts who will give informational and inspirational talks on how our landscapes can create vibrant ecosystems to live and work that raise our well-being. Introduction to Sustainable Home Food Production

Join Jason Kamp, Gorman Heritage Farm’s market gardener, as he shares his knowledge of home food production in an indoor talk, and provides a guided tour of their very own raised beds, hoop house, and market garden. This class covers topics like building raised beds, creating healthy soil from yard waste, and detailed guidance on garden planning, including when and how to plant various vegetables.
