Graduate students throughout the University of Cincinnati have demonstrated continued commitment to sustainability, within both their personal and professional lives. The interdisciplinary nature of sustainability provides exciting opportunities to work with collaborators and develop social and professional communities across disciplines. However, it can also be challenging to find potential collaborators and communities beyond one’s academic department. The Center for Public Engagement with Science (PEWS) and the School of Environment and Sustainability (SEaS) are committed to the growing graduate student sustainability community on campus. Our goal is to support social events as well as academic and professional development opportunities for graduate students interested in sustainability. We are seeking feedback from current graduate students, so that we may appropriately assess the needs of this community on campus.

The form linked below asks several questions about the current needs of graduate students across departments, as well as the types of community programming in which they would participate. We encourage interested graduate students to complete the form, so that your responses can shape what we hope will become a thriving community.

Additionally, we will be hosting an in-person social event during the 2025 Sustainability @UC week to discuss development of a graduate student sustainability community in greater detail. Sustainability @UC week will take place from January 27th through February 1st, 2025, and will include daily events which highlight and celebrate sustainability initiatives at UC. Stay tuned for the full schedule, and we hope to see you there!
