We are excited to introduce Max Cormendy, as the new Program Director for the Center for Public Engagement with Science at University of Cincinnati. He will also serve as the executive director for the Philosophy of Science Association.

Mr. Cormendy is a Cincinnati native and completed his MA in Philosophy at University of Cincinnati in 2009. After this, he took step back from academia and joined the circus. He served as the general manager of the Cincinnati Circus Company where he was responsible for designing and producing events across the country for Fortune 500 companies, academic institutions, sports organizations, and every other type of client imaginable.
While working to build the circus, Mr. Cormendy discovered his talent for business development and event production and also learned that communicating with the public is something that he is very comfortable with. One of his favorite creations for the circus was a “Mad Science” show that was built for K-12 audiences and performed more than 100 times in the tri-state.
In 2019, Mr. Cormendy returned to University of Cincinnati to work in the Office of Research as an event production and communications specialist. After a first year of successful events, COVID appeared and he found himself exploring digital event platforms and developing virtual methods for communicating with the public. He was excited to play a role in the launch of the Research2030 initiatives and to be the administrator of the Research2030 social media accounts.
He says “I am thrilled to be joining PEWS as Program Director and the Philosophy of Science Association as Executive Director. I look forward to applying my expertise to growing both organizations, continuing to develop my passion for public science reporting and creating new and exciting public facing events!”
Welcome Mr. Cormendy!
