Fall 2023 HUM/SOSC/NSCI 7000: Sharing Science Experience
This two-day workshop provides graduate students with an introduction to public engagement with science through a hands-on experience at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The workshop is facilitated by a Museum Educator and UC faculty in the sciences and humanities.
This 1-credit workshop is offered twice in the Fall 2023 semester: 9/7 and 9/14 (Thursdays), and 11/18 and 11/19 (weekend). Students may sign up for either section and whichever area designation of the course best serves them: humanities (HUM), social sciences (SOSC), or natural sciences (NSCI).

Spring 2024 HUM/SOSC/NSCI 7030: Public Engagement with Science
This semester-long graduate course explores public engagement with science theory and best practices. The course culminates in multi-disciplinary team projects carried out with community organizations in Greater Cincinnati.
Enrollment opens late fall 2023; 7000 Sharing Science Experience is a prerequisite. Students may sign up for whichever area designation of the course best serves them: humanities (HUM), social sciences (SOSC), or natural sciences (NSCI).
Summer 2024 Engaging Science Fellowships
Each Engaging Science Fellow will be placed with a community organization in Greater Cincinnati to contribute to their public-facing work and execute an independent project in public engagement with science. The cohort of Fellows also meets regularly through the summer for faculty and peer mentorship. Each Fellow also will be provided professional development funds to support their future public-engagement efforts.
Students must have completed 7000 and 7030 to qualify for the fellowship.
Questions? UC graduate students are invited to attend a PEWS Graduate Student Coffee and Q&A on April 4, 10am-11:30am, in Probasco Auditorium. Or, email engagingscience@uc.edu.
