The Precarious State of Medication Abortion Access in Ohio, Prognosis Ohio

Episode 130 of the podcast Prognosis Ohio features Sociologist and PEWS Faculty Affiliate Dr. Danielle Bessett of the Ohio Policy Evaluation Network and Morgan Mitchell of the Abortion Fund of Ohio about the state of changing abortion access in Ohio, especially medication abortion. The conversation includes pending legal cases that stand to increase health disparities throughout Ohio, upcoming elections with implications for basic abortion rights, and the reaction of the medical community to this incursion into patient-provider decision-making.

(Almost) Every Thursday Science Series: Kenton County Parks and Recreation

Thursdays in July, 9:30am-12pm, Pioneer Park in Shelter House 1. Kenton County Parks & Recreation (KCP&R) is embarking on their interactive, educational and fun science programming! The free events are held, rain or shine; all you need is a sense of wonder and KCP&R will take care of the rest. There will also be free raffles for donated prizes. 2023 program dates are set. KCP&R collects donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for Be Concerned. Pioneer Park is located at 3952 Madison Pike, Covington, KY 41017. See a list of programs here.

Regional Impact of the Farm Bill, Greater Cincinnati Food Policy Council (Green Umbrella)

Tuesday, July 11, 5-7 pm and Friday, July 14, 10 am -12 pm. Do you want to educate and inspire others to advocate for a positive impact through the 2023 Farm Bill but feel you need more resources to do so confidently? The Greater Cincinnati Regional Food Policy Council is hosting train-the-trainer events that provide tools and resources to do so! The sessions will include curated regional data with source information, stories from individuals within the region, solutions that call legislators to action around agriculture and the food system, and activities to make future advocacy sessions more interactive.

Nature Mindfulness: Uncovering Your Natural Awareness, Cincinnati Nature Center 

Saturday, July 15, 9:30-11am. Reclaim your attention and begin to uncover your natural awareness. Join CNC to learn a simple mindfulness technique that will help you enjoy the moment more fully. Preregistration required. Member adult $9; nonmember adult $19 (includes daily admission). 

Imagining the Future City: the Green Cincinnati Plan in Action

Tuesday, July 25, 6-7 pm. Sustainability is the future of cities, and Cincinnati is leading the way with the 2023 Green Cincinnati Plan. In this panel discussion, local leaders discuss the development of the GCP and how they will utilize it in the coming years as a guide for the growth and development of Cincinnati across multiple sectors: community and equity, jobs and innovation, and even as a tool to address the housing crisis. Join the conversation!
