Climate Health Equity Webinar Series

Join Green Umbrella for a one-hour webinar about how climate change is contributing to a frequent occurrence of extreme weather events and impacts on health outcomes in Greater Cincinnati. They will explore how this issue can be addressed on an individual, institutional, and systemic level. This event is part of the “Climate Health Equity” webinar series, which builds on a recently completed report in partnership with Scioto Analysis, “Climate Health Equity – Analyzing the Impacts of Climate Change and Health Outcomes in Greater Cincinnati.” Register here.

Meet a Greenspace Hike Series: Licking River Greenway
Friday, July 12th, 3:00 – 4:30 PM, Clayton Meyer Park entrance, 1710 Glenway Ave, Covington, KY 41014
Explore protected and unprotected greenspaces in a hiking series by Green Umbrella’s Greenspace Alliance Program. The series will include explorations of greenspace gems in addition to urban strolls. Hikes will last one hour and allow us to join nature enthusiasts, the nature curious, and environmental conservation professionals as we collectively enjoy our time together outdoors. Local Licking River Greenway conservationist, Stan “The River Man” Nassano, will be leading this hike, enabling us to learn more about the trails’ history and the work that has gone into preserving it. The hike will be mostly flat along gravel paths near the river. Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to navigate some sloping terrain and muddy areas. Street parking is available at the park and in a newly paved parking lot south of Rizzo’s Painting (two blocks north of the park). Register here.

The grant program aims to support sustainable, equitable, and resilient efforts that relieve burdens and increase benefits for those most affected by climate change in Cincinnati. Summer Bird Walk

The busy summer season is in full swing for feathery visitors and residents alike. Join the Cincinnati Nature Center for a casual walk to observe the colorful lives of birds along our trails. They will move at a slow pace and walk mostly even terrain. This program runs rain or shine unless there is severe weather and will meet at the map kiosk outside the Rowe Visitor Center at our Rowe Woods location.
Raisin’ Hellbenders on the River: Concert for Conservation

Join the Thomas More University Biology Field Station for a day of fun and fellowship on the Ohio River. Listen to live bluegrass music from local bands, enjoy a guided hike, explore their laboratories, purchase raffle tickets for a brand-new kayak from Schack’s Yaks, meet local environmental organizations, paddle on the river, all while supporting our conservation and outreach programs. The City of Cincinnati’s Office of Environment and Sustainability (OES) is excited to announce two full-time Americorps VISTA roles with their office for the 2024-2025 year thanks to a partnership with the Ohio CDC Association! The OES team seeks two justice-oriented, critical-thinking, and proactive collaborators to join our team as we build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient city for all.
