PEWS Faculty Affiliate and UC School of Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) Professor Amy Townsend-Small was recently featured in a UC News article about Cincinnati’s gas streetlights. Townsend-Small’s research, supported by PEWS, studied gas streetlights in both Boston, Massachusetts, and in Cincinnati. In both cases, she and her collaborators (History Professor Dr. David Stradling and UC SEAS graduate Dr. Sacha Brewer), found that the streetlights are costly, inefficient, and environmentally toxic. The UC News article, written by Michael Miller, describes the project and the published studies that the research has resulted in.

Dr. Townsend-Small’s work on the Cincinnati gas streetlights has been featured in other news, including Cincinnati Magazine. You can read more about her work here. PEWS is proud to support the work of our faculty affiliates from across UC departments.
