The Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati. This summit brings together over 600 sustainability leaders to the largest sustainability conference in the region. PEWS is excited to participate as a planning partner for this upcoming event, hosted by PEWS community partner, Green Umbrella. PEWS Faculty Affiliate Andrew Bernier has been the UC and PEWS representative on the Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit Planning Committee.

About the Summit

This summit brings together passionate and visionary leaders to share inspiring, forward-thinking, and solution-oriented ideas that propel individuals toward a healthier, more resilient, sustainable, and equitable future. Attendees include innovative entrepreneurs, government officials, sustainability directors, academic, non-profit, and community leaders committed to solving some of the region’s toughest environmental problems.

The summit will also feature Keynote Speaker Jacqueline Patterson, Founder and Executive Director of the Chisholm Legacy Project: A Resource Hub for Black Frontline Climate Justice Leadership and previous Senior Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program.

This year, the theme of the summit is moving “From Vision to Action.” Along with the panels, workshops and talks at the summit, PEWS is working in collaboration with Green Umbrella–and with support from the UC Office of Research–to offer a poster session for students, faculty, and community leaders.

Call for Posters

The call for posters is now open! Green Umbrella is currently seeking abstracts for scholarly and practitioner posters that align with this year’s theme. They encourage submissions from students, faculty, community and non-profit leaders and others involved in sustainability work.

The poster abstract deadline is March 1st, 2024. You will be notified if you have been selected on March 18th, 2024. Poster abstract submission guidelines can be found here.
