The Center for Public Engagement with Science (PEWS) is excited to introduce two new graduate fellows to the team! Our interns and fellows are essential in supporting the mission and goals of the center, and we are grateful to work with such talented students. Read about our new fellows below, and learn more about PEWS’ graduate and undergraduate internship opportunities here!
Annika M. Baldwin – Science Harvest Intern
Science Harvest is a local science outreach initiative of PEWS. This program strives to share science with local communities through two-way conversations about science and hands-on science activities. Our Science Harvest Intern develops and implements activities to share monthly at the Northside Farmer’s Market, and helps other UC students and faculty get involved too.

Annika M. Baldwin is a first-year Master’s student in Communication with an interest in a variety of areas, including interpersonal communication, organizational communication, and gender studies. When it comes to education and the general public, she has been working with kids since she was fifteen years old when she began teaching Taekwondo to ages 5 & under. Most recently, she was a bookmobile librarian bringing books to schools within the tri-state! Yay for reading of all topics! Working with PEWS science harvest allows her to study a different side of communication and community engagement- while working with kids again! She is passionate about bringing education to all ages and believes it is so important to connect the public with each other and learning.
Gabrielle Kroger – Sustainability Fellow
The PEWS Sustainability Fellow supports the PEWS Sustainability Initiative, sponsored by Research2030, and plays a large role in helping to plan and implement activities for Sustainability@UC Week. Projects may also include planning interdisciplinary sustainability events, assisting with grant submissions, creating a sustainability-based graduate community, and meeting with UC administrators to discuss sustainability and interdisciplinary opportunities for students.

Gabrielle is an MPH student in the Global Health concentration at UC. She graduated from UC in 2018 with a BS in Neuropsychology and a Minor in English. She is passionate about topics related to climate change, environmental health and mental health. She also is passionate about engaging the public in science topics and looks forward to working with PEWS this year!
Welcome to the team, Annika and Gabrielle!
